Kate MacKenzie
Viola

Violist Kate MacKenzie is a recent graduate of Oberlin Conservatory, earning a Bachelor’s of Music under the direction of Peter Slowik. MacKenzie is an avid orchestral musician and appears frequently as a principal player in school and festival orchestras. In 2023, she was Co-Principal of the National Repertory Orchestra, where she also gave her debut as a soloist, performing Bruch’s Romanze for Viola and Orchestra. Other notable performances include concerts with the New World Symphony and Cleveland Pops Orchestra and a tour to Carnegie Hall with the Oberlin Orchestra. In recent summers, she has attended the Encore Chamber Music Institute, Credo National Festival, and Eastern Music Festival, where she was a member of the Strings Leadership Program. Her education also includes study with Scott Rawls and recent masterclasses for the Takács Quartet, Tabea Zimmermann, Ivo-Jan van der Werff, Ayane Kozasa, Jeffrey Multer, and Vicky Chiang.
