Emma Westerfield
Flute

 Flutist Emma Westerfield received her Bachelor’s in flute performance at Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music studying under Thomas Robertello. In 2023, Emma earned first place in the Pellerite Scholarship Competition at the Jacobs School of Music. As a chamber musician, she has competed in competitions, and continues to collaborate with other chamber musicians in her current studies. Her orchestral performances have taken her to some of the most prestigious concert halls in Europe, including the Rudolfinum in Prague, Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche in Berlin, Gewandhaus in Leipzig, and Musikverein in Vienna. Emma's passion for music extends to the opera stage, where she has performed in the pit for productions like Puccini's "La Rondine," Humperdinck's "Hansel und Gretel," and the world premiere of "Anne Frank" by Shulamit Ran, all at the Musical Arts Center of the Jacobs School of Music. Emma has attended Eastern Music Festival, working under the guidance of flutists Jake Fridkis and Ann Choomack. In 2024, Emma was a fellow at the Sarasota Music Festival, and will be attending the Chautauqua Music Festival this year. She has received several honors and awards, including the Indiana Premier Young Artist Scholarship and the Music Faculty Award from the Jacobs School of Music. Moving forward, Emma will be attending the San Francisco Conservatory of Music to pursue a Master’s in flute performance, where she will be studying with Yubeen Kim.
