Sloan Jordan is an emerging orchestral double bassist and advocate for women in music, dedicated to expanding the repertoire to be more gender-inclusive and inspiring a diverse audience. Known for her grounded artistic presence, Sloan has developed strong foundations in both orchestral and solo performance. Her early career was shaped during her time with the Long Bay Youth Symphony, where she served as Principal Bass and won the Concerto Competition. Throughout her collegiate career, Sloan has worked with composers, including Jason Brauer and Richard Li, to perform both large and chamber ensemble works. While leading bass sections in orchestras, Sloan is also an avid freelancer in the Bloomington and Indianapolis areas.
Sloan has spent her summers chasing after new experiences. She performed at the Brevard Music Center in 2023 and the Philadelphia International Music Festival in 2019. In the summer of 2022, Sloan studied abroad in Vienna, Austria, immersing herself with the rich culture and history of the city.
She is currently completing her Master of Music in Double Bass Performance at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, studying under Kurt Muroki. Sloan previously earned her Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance from Vanderbilt University, studying under Joel Reist.
