Vera Romero is a Venezuelan-American horn player studying at the Manhattan School of Music (BM '27) under Michelle Baker. A 2025 fellow of the Sarasota Music Festival, Vera studied with Jeff Scott and Julia Pilant, as well as had the opportunity to perform alongside Jeff Scott and renowned flutist, Jasmine Choi. She has also performed in masterclasses with Radovan Vlatkovic, Julie Landsman, Jennifer Montone, Erik Ralske, Jeffrey Lang, and other professional horn players from the MET Opera Orchestra and New York Philharmonic. Vera is a member of the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players and has performed with the Princeton Symphony, Symphony in C, and other numerous professional and pre-professional ensembles across the greater New York and New Jersey areas. At MSM, she won the audition to perform Principal Horn on Mahler's Symphony No. 5 as a freshman, one of several appearances she has made as principal horn with the MSM Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed as principal horn with MSM's Graduate Opera Theater on productions of La Rondine and Rusalka. Beyond MSM, Vera has appeared on some of the country's most prestigious stages. She has performed at Carnegie Hall with the Grammy Award-winning New York Youth Symphony and previously toured the United States with NYO-USA. Guided by a deep love for the French horn, Vera is passionate about representing and uplifting Hispanic women in classical music. She hopes to inspire young musicians who rarely see themselves reflected onstage and believes strongly in the power of visibility within the arts.
