Emily Xu, a violinist from Buffalo, NY, is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where she studies under the tutelage of Cho Liang Lin. Emily's artistry has been recognized through numerous accolades, including the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory Dean’s Scholarship and the Irma Kordinak Scholarship. She has been an active participant in renowned music festivals such as the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Encore Chamber Music Institute, Voksenåsen Summer Academy, and Orford Music Academy, where she has had the privilege of working with esteemed musicians including Cho-Liang Lin, 
Timothy Chooi, the Tacaks Quartet, and Peter Salaff. A passionate and versatile performer, Emily has appeared alongside members of world-class ensembles such as the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the contemporary ensemble Collective. In 2023, she achieved a major milestone in her career, making her Carnegie Hall debut as part of the Oberlin Orchestra’s NYC tour, and has served as concertmaster of the Oberlin Orchestra in later seasons. Emily received her Bachelor of Music degree at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Sibbi Bernhardsson. Emily currently plays on a 2021 Andrew Ryan modeled after Guarneri del Gesu.
