Leo Zupko
Violin

Leo Zupko is an award-winning violinist currently in his first year at Northwestern University, where he studies under Professor Jinjoo Cho. He is a graduate of the Lycée Français de Chicago and a merit scholarship student of the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy program. His principal teachers include Almita Vamos, Sang Mee Lee, and Davis King, and he has also worked with Simon James, Danielle Belen, and Dong-Suk Kang through internationally recognized programs such as Center Stage Strings, Encore Summer Academy, and the Music Alp Festival in France. 
As a soloist, Leo has appeared with the SEEN WORLDWIDE Orchestra at Ganz Hall and Buntrock Hall at Symphony Center in Chicago. He has also appeared with the Northeastern Illinois University Symphony Orchestra and the Fox Valley Orchestra. He has performed at distinguished venues including the Young Steinway Concert Series at the Skokie Public Library and the Epiphany Tuesday Concert Series at the Church of the Epiphany in Washington, D.C. He has appeared twice on WFMT’s Introductions, once as a soloist and once with his string quartet. 
Leo’s awards include a top prize in the International Young Artist Concerto Competition, first prize in the Fox Valley Concerto Competition, first prize in the Chicago Chamber Music Festival Concerto Competition, and honorable mentions in the O’Malley Foundation National Concerto Competition, the DePaul Concerto Competition, and the CYSO Concerto Competition. His chamber accolades include a bronze medal at the St. Paul String Quartet Competition and a semi-finalist placement at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. In addition to his musical work, he also enjoys hip-hop dance and performs with Northwestern University’s Fusion Dance Company.
