Kendra Chao
Violin

Violinist Kendra Chao, age 21, is a 2023 Bachelor of Music candidate at the Cleveland Institute of Music where she currently studies with Jaime Laredo and Jan Mark Sloman. Kendra has performed at some of the most important venues in the world including: the Berlin Philharmonie, Concertgebouw, and Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine. Additionally, this past summer, Kendra collaborated with Robert McDuffie in a recital at the Harris Concert Hall as a part of the Aspen Music Festival. Kendra has worked with many world renowned violinists such as Midori Goto, Huang Bin, Benny Tseng, Sergiu Schwartz, Robert Lipsett, and Haik Kazazyan. Furthermore, she was admitted to study with Sylvia Rosenberg and Donald Weilerstein at the Aspen Music Festival.

Kendra has competed and won a number of local, regional, and international competitions. She has won 1st prize in the Silicon Valley International Arts Music Competition. She has also received 1st and 2nd prize in the The Yen Liang Young and Diablo Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition.  Kendra claimed 2nd prize in the United States Open Music Competition and received Honorable Mention at the Chinese Music Teachers Association Of Northern California.
