From Oak Park, Illinois, Jane Hanneman began playing the double bass at the age of 9. She is currently studying under Rachel Calin at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). At CCM, Jane won third prize in its 2022 Undergraduate Instrumental Competition, and she serves as rotating principal of their Concert Orchestra. She has played with a variety of orchestras across the U.S., including the Colorado College Festival Orchestra, the Eastern Music Festival Young Artist Orchestras, and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. Jane enjoys performing chamber music as well; she has played in multiple chamber groups at CCM, and she recently performed the Vaughan Williams Piano Quintet at the Colorado College Summer Music Festival.

Jane is the recipient of the Chautauqua Women's Club General Scholarship and The Mary Louise Molyneaux Scholarship.
