Benjamin Sokol

Benjamin R. Sokol, bass-baritone, completed his BM in classical voice at Manhattan School of Music(2022), where he studied with world-renowned bass-baritone, James Morris. Benjamin is a graduate student in Mr. Morris’ studio at MSM. He has also worked with Mignon Dunn, Joshua Greene, Mary Jane Johnson, Sherrill Milnes, Thomas Muraco, Mark Schnaible, Shane Schag, Kenneth Merrill, and Pierre Vallet. Benjamin has worked with directors including Adrienne Boris, Dennis Whitehead Darling, Fabrizio Melano, A. Scott Parry and John De Los Santos, and has participated in Master Classes with Piotr Beczala, Simon Estes, Sherrill Milnes, Jorge Parodi, and Howard Watkins. Benjamin was awarded the MSM Alexandra Hunt Endowed Vocal Scholarship, won the 2021 Milnes Opera Idol competition, and was a finalist in the Opera Index competition (2022). He has participated in the Milnes VOICE Programs (Florida VOICE Project, Milnes VOICE Studio, Savannah VOICE Festival), Taos Opera Institute, and Chautauqua Opera Conservatory and Company. Benjamin’s roles include Sarastro, Sprecher, Zweite Geharnischter Mann (Die Zauberflöte), Orest (Elektra), Wagner (Faust), Il Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Badger/Parson (The Cunning Little Vixen), L’Américain (Angelique), Bartender (Speed Dating Tonight) and Don Magnifico and Seagull #2 (A Royal Feast) by Michael Ching, Betto Di Signa (Gianni Schicchi) and L’Arbre (L’Enfant Et Les Sortileges). Benjamin is an experienced choral singer. He has performed at venues such as Temple Emanuel NYC, Central Synagogue, Downtown Crossing (Boston), Zimriyah (Akko, Israel), Jazz at Lincoln Center, David Geffen Hall, Carnegie Hall, and The Metropolitan Opera House. Benjamin has worked with choral conductors including Kent Tritle, Dr. Ronald Oliver and Matthew Lazar.

Benjamin is the recipient of the Chautauqua Voice Scholarship.
