Growing up in a musical family, Ivo Dae-Seong Shin de Souza is a dedicated solo and chamber musician. He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, in 2016, was accepted for a master’s program at the University of Arizona (UofA), where he studied with Dr. Brian Luce and served as the flute studio teacher assistant. After graduating in 2019, Ivo opted for starting his Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in the same university. However, in the Spring of 2022, Ivo transferred to Michigan State University (MSU), where he studies with Professor Richard Sherman, while serving as one of the flute studio Teacher Assistants. Ivo is the winner of several competitions throughout the U.S., including UofA’s 46th Annual President’s Concerto Competition (2018), the Arizona Flute Society’s Young Artist Competition (2018), and the Flute Society of Washington’s Young Artist Competition (2020).
Ivo is the recipient of the Shreveport Friends' Music Scholarship, The Jessie D. Grassie Class of 1882 Scholarship, and The Carnahan-Jackson Scholarship Fund.
