IRA LINDSAY III

Ira Lindsay III is from Washington, D.C. Ira began his training as a west african dancer at Dance Institute of Washington. Ira went on to graduate from The Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where he majored in Theater. Returning to his first love, he then joined the Katherine Smith Contemporary Dance Ensemble. Ira owns a BFA in Dance from University of the Arts, under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. During his collegiate training, he performed works by renowned choreographers such as Merce Cunningham, Mark Haim, and Tommie-Waheed Evans and has worked with other distinguished dance artists like Kim Bears-Bailey, Sidra Bell, and Helen Simoneau. In 2020, Ira became a member of PHILADANCO Second Company (D2), under the direction of Joan Myers Brown. Ira is now a company member with Garth Fagan Dance.
