Renardo Johnson
Director of Actors

Renardo is proud to be in his 17th year in the acting cast of the Ruth Page Nutcracker and in his fourth as director of the actors. He received his acting training at the University of Illinois at Chicago under the guidance of William Raffeld. His training continued at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, earning an MFA. After returning to Chicago, Renardo earned an MA in Social Work from the University of Chicago and joined the Old World Theatre Company where he performed in many productions. Some of his additional credits include Ragtime (Porchlight Music Theater (PMT)) Once On This Island (PMT), Phantom (PMT), Crowns (Open Door Repertory Company (ODRC)), Driving Miss Daisy (Village Players), and Superior Donuts (ODRC). Renardo is a recipient of a Black Theater Alliance Award. Renardo works for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, where he has worked for 34 years.
