Jeanne Wohlgamuth
Artistic Director Columbus Children's Choir

Throughout her forty-three-year career, Jeanne Wohlgamuth has been a tireless advocate for music education at all levels, from kindergarten through college. She recently retired from Dublin Jerome High School as Director of Choirs and Performing Arts Chair. She is currently serving her tenth year as Artistic Director of Columbus Children’s Choir. She oversees the organization's artistic vision and directs New World Singers and Una Voce, the top-performing ensembles. 

Mrs. Wohlgamuth’s passion lies in developing music literacy in her singers. She has presented workshops on developing sight-reading in the choral rehearsal for the Georgia, Fulton County School System, the Ohio Choral Directors Association, the Midwest Kodály Music Educators Conference, The Ohio State University, Capital University, Columbus City Schools, the Tri-City Kodály Music Educators, and The Ohio Music Educators Association. 

Mrs. Wohlgamuth has been active throughout her professional career. Currently, she serves as President-Elect of the Ohio Choral Directors Association and Vocal Affairs Chair for the Ohio Music Education Association. She has served as the Community Children’s Choir Resource and Repertoire Chair for the Ohio Choral Directors Association, Secondary Choral Advisor, National Children’s Choir Coordinator, and Secretary for the Organization of American Kodály Educators, as well as holding the office of Treasurer for the Tri-City Kodály Music Educators and Creative Affairs Chair for the Ohio Music Education Association. Mrs. Wohlgamuth also is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Columbus, where she serves on the Music and Arts and the Young Children Priority One committees. 

Mrs. Wohlgamuth has served as a guest clinician for the Indiana Elementary All-State Honor Choir and numerous district high school and middle school honor choirs throughout Ohio. In 2023, she will lead her first choral festival/residency at Carnegie Hall. She will also serve as guest conductor for the 2023 Organization of American Kodály Educators National Women’s Concert Choir and will conduct the Georgia All-State Middle School Treble Choir in 2024. 

Ms. Wohlgamuth is proud to have received the 2021 Professor Veneta Vicheva International Conductors Mastery Award and the 2021 Best Conductor award of the Rimini International Choral Competition. She was awarded the 2020 National Teacher of the Year from the Organization of Kodály Music Educators. Her other awards include the Teacher of the Year award from Dublin Jerome High School, Karrer Middle School, Wright Elementary, and Bowen Elementary School in Kentwood, Michigan. She was also honored with the Golden Shamrock Award for Excellence in Education from Dublin City Schools and the Community Champion Award presented by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. In 2021 she was inducted into the Dublin Jerome High School Hall of Fame.
