Jasmine Dickson
Principal Trumpet

Jasmine Dickson, a native of New Jersey, recently assumed the position of principal trumpet of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, and is currently studying at Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music. In the short time she has lived in Bloomington, Jasmine has played with the highly acclaimed IU Philharmonic Orchestra including an appearance with Leslie Odom Jr. She is a graduate of Messiah University in central Pennsylvania, where she held principal roles in all major instrumental ensembles including the Trumpet Ensemble and traveled to compete at the National Trumpet Competition. There, Jasmine competed as a quarterfinalist in the Undergraduate Solo division and in the Small and Large Ensemble divisions. Jasmine is also an active member of the International Trumpet Guild, and has been a semi-finalist in the Ryan Anthony Memorial Competitions in the wind band and orchestral divisions. Prior to arriving at Messiah, Jasmine spent a formative year in Boston where she studied with members of the Boston Symphony and was an established recording artist at the Berklee College of Music. She remains an active freelancer in Massachusetts as well as in the Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Indiana regions. One of Jasmine’s tangential passions is British brass band, and she is a regular substitute with the award-winning Atlantic Brass Band, front row cornet with the IU Brass Band, former member of the Quincy Temple Corps Band, and participated in the New York Staff Band’s 2022 Future All Stars Weekend. Jasmine is indebted to many great teachers including Dr. Bryan Appleby-Wineberg, Dr. William Stowman, Joey Tartell, and Dr. Kris Kwapis.

Some fun and interesting facts about me are that I love swimming and Saturday Night Live, and I have 2 tarantulas; a rescue named Camille (after Saint-Saëns) and baby May (for my favorite Jersey shore town). Another fun fact is that one of my teachers, Dr. Bryan Appleby-Wineberg, at one time also held the principal trumpet position in the EPO.
