A Charlotte, North Carolina native, Anthony Hamilton began his path to stardom at the young age of ten with his church choir. By the time Anthony was a teen, he performed solo at many nightclubs and talent shows in the Charlotte area. He met producer Mark Sparks in the early nineties who encouraged him to move to New York City where he was ultimately signed to Uptown Records, owned by Andre Harrell.
In 2000, Anthony joined fellow singer D’Angelo’s international tour as a back-up singer to promote the upcoming release of D’Angelo’s studio album, “Voodoo.” Hamilton would go on to sign with a number of labels before finally winning a Grammy Award in 2009 for his work with artist Al Green on the hit single, “You Got All I Need.” Shortly after winning a Grammy Award, Anthony released “Back to Love” in 2011 which featured three songs cowritten by Babyface and charted in the Top Ten of R&B albums.
Anthony Hamilton said goodbye to major record labels in 2016 although he continued collaborations & would again be nominated for a Grammy Award in 2018 for his work with Shirley Caesar on, “It’s Alright, It’s OK.” Anthony entered the 2020’s as an independent artist releasing the single “Mercy,” featuring Tamika Mallory which simultaneously launched his label, My Music Box. Hamilton released his latest studio album, “Love Is The New Black” in 2021 & he continues to perform for audiences worldwide.
