Ludwig van Beethoven was born into the Classical era and, throughout his life, helped contribute to the rise of the Romantic-era of music. His Symphony No. 7 was premiered in Vienna in 1813 and Beethoven himself regarded it as one of his best works. Upon its premiere, it was so well received that the audience demanded the Allegretto movement be performed as an encore and, ever since then, the Allegretto has remained a prominent work in orchestral performances. This movement has been applauded by listeners due to the mysterious yet captivating dance-like feel that is introduced in low strings before intensifying as the movement progresses.
