Steven Bryant is a relatively recent composer, born in 1972, who studied composition at the Juilliard School, the University of North Texas, and Ouachita University. Bryant’s compositions combine lyricism, dissonance, silence, and, on occasion, technology to create works that captivate audiences of all musical backgrounds. Bloom, composed in 2013, celebrates the coming of spring. Bryant sought to express the sense of calming and tranquility that comes with the blooming of spring and does so with the expert blending of timbres across the strings, winds, and percussion instruments.
