David Riddick

 is the founder and Executive/Artistic Director of Beauty for Ashes Contemporary School of Dance. He has trained extensively under Valeria Sinyavskya from Russia who was the pupil of Agrippina Vaganova. David is a teacher in the following areas of dance techniques: Vaganova (Ballet), Graham, Horton, African, Jazz, Hip Hop and Liturgical. His passion is to train, instruct and inspire those with aspirations to become professional dancers and choreographers. David has worked not only in the city of Hampton, but at Downing Gross Cultural Arts Center of Newport News, Virginia, where Mr. Riddick was an Assistant Program Director managing the departments dance, theater, music, and arts.

In 2009 David Riddick opened the very first African American Contemporary School Dance here in the Hampton Roads area.   Under the direction of David Riddick Beauty for Ashes Contemporary School of Dance has served over 475,00 people in the community through, performances, workshops, seminars, community events and festivals for the past 14 years.  David Riddick was also responsible for Beauty for Ashes Contempoary School of Dance partnering with the infamous Joffrey Ballet to be host audition site, 14 students have been accepted into different Joffrey Ballet location, Joffrey New York, Joffrey Texas, Joffrey Italy, and Joffrey California.   Beauty for Ashes has also sent off numerous students to college and universities majoring in dance and for the last 14 years Virginia Commonwealth University.  

 As the director of Beauty for Ashes Contemporary School of Dance, David has accomplished milestones when it comes to elevating the school to higher levels to include:  The school being a part of The International Dance Council in Europe as well is the first to have a National Dance Honors Society under the auspices of National Dance Education Organization that comes out of District of Columbia.  

Under the auspice of Beaty for Ashes Contemporary School of Dance, David Riddick created the dance company known as Riddick Dance Company, which is the professional side of the school.  Riddick Dance Company is the First African Professional Dance School and Professional Touring Company in the city of Hampton.  Riddick Dance has performed at many locations to include The American Theatre, Music Greeks in Atlanta Georgia, The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and other locations throughout the DMV.  This year, Riddick Dance Company is excitedly preparing for the Site of Virginia Tour, Williamsburg Residency and their first international tour in Germany!
