(Camden, New Jersey) a graduate of Hampton University and Temple University with a BS in Music Education with graduate focus on Opera Theatre. She has performed with Opera Ebony, the Camerata Opera Theatre, concertized across the Eastern seaboard and is a National Board Certified Teacher. She has coached with the late Sylvia Olden Lee and Martin Rich of the Metropolitan Opera staff, and studied vocally with the late Florence Berggren in Philadelphia, and with sought after baritone, John Fulton.
Currently, she is the Director of Choirs at Hampton High School, and the Lead Teacher for the Academy of Technology and Engineering. Along with choir, she teaches Electronic Music Technology, sponsors the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the Drama Club. Ms. Mitchell has directed the Hampton City Schools Honor Choir and has been awarded Teacher of the Year twice during her teaching tenure as both a middle school and high school teacher.
Ms. Mitchell is a choral and electronic music curriculum writer for the city, Lead Teacher and mentor for new teachers as well as students.
She is a mentor and adjudicator for ACTSO (Afro Academic Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics in both VA and NJ. Ms. Mitchell is a member of the ACDA (American Choral Directors Association, NAfME (National Association for Music Education), AES (Audio Engineering Society), serves on the Board of Education for the Abbey Road Institute, Miami.
As a member of the Beauty for Ashes Contemporary School of Dance staff, she teaches voice and piano. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her five beautiful granddaughters, knitting, beading, and visiting the beach.
