Hailed for her voluptuous voice, Kathryn Kelly has earned acclaim for her “lustrous” singing and “world-class” performances. A sought-after performer, Kathryn frequently appears as a recitalist and soloist throughout Hampton Roads. Recent engagements include Mahler 4 with Virginia Symphony, in recital with Coastal Virginia Chamber Music, performances with Norfolk Chamber Consort, and in recital with Stephen Coxe where she premiered a new song cycle based on texts by Emily Dickinson.
Past engagements include the Alto Soloist in Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis, Soprano Soloist in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) Monica (The Medium) Tisbe (La Cenerentola) Dorabella (Cosi fan Tutte) Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) Despina (Cosi fan Tutte) and a summer residency as a Professional Artist at SongFest in Los Angeles. She regularly performs with the Virginia Chorale and is the soprano section leader at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Norfolk.
Kathryn maintains a distinguished private studio based in Norfolk and serves on the faculty at Old Dominion University’s Diehn School of Music and the Vocal Music department at The Governor’s School for the Arts. Her students have garnered numerous awards, recognitions and scholarships, and have been accepted to top colleges and programs throughout the country. Kathryn holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance and M.M. in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance both from Westminster Choir College.
