Kate Nordstrum
Creative Producer

Kate Nordstrum is artistic director, producer and owner of Liquid Music (New York Times' “Best of Classical”), originally founded as a special projects series at The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra in 2012. Nordstrum is also executive & artistic director of The Great Northern, a Minneapolis-based mid-winter festival, and co-founder/director of curatorial collective Infinite Palette. She produced the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s celebrated Fluxus Festival (September 2018-June 2019) at its centennial.

Named "Best Independent Producer" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Nordstrum's current/recent projects include copresentations and partnerships with the Walker Art Center, Kennedy Center, The National Gallery of Art, Cincinnati Symphony, Bedroom Community, MASS MoCA, On Being with Krista Tippett, Baryshnikov Arts Center, LA Philharmonic, Palm Springs Art Museum, New Amsterdam Records, Ecstatic Music Festival, and American Swedish Institute. Nordstrum’s previous employers include Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and New York City Center.

Through Liquid Music, Nordstrum has built a boundary-defying space in which artists can take creative risks on long-lead projects and collaborate in exciting ways not possible elsewhere. Nordstrum has been widely praised for her programmatic vision and catholic tastes, with media outlets describing her as “the most adventurous music curator in town” (MinnPost), “a presenter of rare initiative” (Star Tribune), and "Twin Cities' curatorial powerhouse with international pull” (Minnesota Public Radio). Her work in the field of performing arts planning and communications is extensive.
