Jasmin White is the winner of the 2023 Queen Sonja Singing Competition, and the winner of the second prize for voice and the audience-awarded Musiq3 Prize of the Public at the 2023 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels.

For the 2023/24 season, White returns to the premier Opernstudio at Volksoper Wien for a second season singing Mary in Der fliegende Holländer, Dritte Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Martha in The Gospel According to the Other Mary, and Frau Reich in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor. Also this season, White debuts at the Dutch National Opera as The Historian in the world premiere of The Shell Trial and in concert halls across South Korea for the Queen Elisabeth Competition Winners Recital Tour. White will also perform as the contralto soloist in John Adams’ El Niño with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, then again on tour with American Modern Opera Company.

In the 2022/23 season, White debuted at Teatro dell’opera di Roma as Erste Geist in Schumann’s Manfred and the Los Angeles Philharmonic in “A Musical Portrait: Price and Bonds,” as part of the Rock My Soul festival at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Previous debuts of note include Porgy and Bess with The Metropolitan Opera, Dryad in Ariadne auf Naxos with Lakes Area Music Festival, and Kate in The Pirates of Penzance and the cover of Jane in Castor and Patience with Cincinnati Opera.

A recent graduate of the Artist Diploma in Opera Studies program at The Juilliard School, White was awarded the Richard F. Gold Career Grant from the Shoshana Foundation in recognition of their artistic development. While at The Juilliard School, White performed a variety roles including the alto soloist in Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky, the mezzo-soprano soloist in Stravinsky’s Pulcinella, Frau Reich in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, La Gelosia in Orfeo (Rossi), and Disinganno in Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno.

White’s performances that were affected by the pandemic include Lucy in Tobias Picker’s Awakenings with Opera Theater of Saint Louis, King Egeo in Handel’s Teseo with The Juilliard School, and concerts with Oratorio Society of New York.

A citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, hailing from Grand Ronde, Oregon, White is also a graduate of the Master of Music in Voice program at Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the Bachelor of Music in Vocal Arts program at the University of Southern California.
