Meridian 8 is the mixed voice vocal jazz octet at the School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA). The ensemble had the privilege of participating by personal invitation of the world-renown vocal jazz group, New York Voices, in the 2016 New York Voices Jazz Festival near Chicago. In 2013, the group performed in Beijing, China as part of a cultural exchange. Meridian 8 also won the Open Competition for Jazz at the 2012 World Choir Games, earning a Gold Diploma. In 2011, Meridian 8 won the Christmas Choir Competition sponsored by Cincinnati’s WARM 98 radio station. Meridian 8 has also performed at various events and functions in the Greater Cincinnati area, including the Greater Cincinnati Firefighters’ Memorial and the Cincinnati Ballet Children’s Nutcracker Luncheon.
