Beatrice Shea

Beatrice Shea is a senior at Oak Ridge High School. She has played the oboe for eight years and the English horn for four years under the instruction of Cynthia Jeffers. This is her first season playing with the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra. Additionally, she plays in the Oak Ridge High School Symphonic Band, the Oak Ridge Community Band, and the Oak Ridge Philharmonia. Beatrice attended TN Governor’s School for the Arts in 2021 and has participated in ETSBOA All-East. She also is an All-State distance runner, dancer, distinguished NJROTC cadet, linguist, and math club president. Beatrice has yet to decide where to attend college this fall, but is considering the United States Air Force Academy, Rice University, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Denver. She will either be pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or Oboe Performance. She has received a 4-year Army ROTC Scholarship and numerous music scholarships. Regardless of her major, she plans to continue her passion for oboe and music throughout college.
