Thora Spence has been a violist in the KSYOA for six years. She began in the Philharmonia and is now principal chair in the Youth Orchestra. As a senior at Oak Ridge High School, she studies privately with Susan Shor. Thora truly values the time and energy she’s put into this program and feels she has become a better player for it.  Not only did she earn first chair in KSYOA, but this year she also held first chair in Governor’s School for the Arts and ETSBOA. Thora feels that KSYOA sparked in her a sense of purpose that she utilized in not just her extracurriculars, but in life.  She is undecided on a School or college major yet but is considering Biology or Math paired with a double major in Music performance.
