Katie Liaw has conducted the Youth Chamber Orchestra for four seasons. She began working with the Youth Orchestra Association in 2006 as a Music Education major at UTK. For the following 18 years, Katie has served as rehearsal assistant, section coach, stage manager, and assistant conductor. By far, her favorite role with the organization has been conducting the students in the Youth Chamber Orchestra. 

Katie graduated from The University of Tennessee in 2008 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. She later attended The Hartt School at the University of Hartford to earn a Master of Music Education in String Pedagogy. In her years as an educator, Katie has served as a school orchestra director, area clinician, and adjudicator. She enjoys private teaching and loves her small studio of cello students.

In her spare time, Katie loves reading, drinking a good cup of coffee, hovering over her growing plant collection, and spending time with her family - husband, Kevin, and their two children.
