MORGAN SMITH

MORGAN SMITH is internationally recognized for the resonance of his voice and riveting dramatic portrayals and has been described as having a "powerful baritone of mingled velvet and steel" in Opera News. In addition to signature roles in traditional repertoire such as Scarpia (Tosca) and Escamillo (Carmen), Mr. Smith has been entrusted to create 16 roles in world premieres, including Starbuck in Jake Heggie's widely-acclaimed MobyDick. Recent highlights include Tadeusz in The Passenger (Israeli Opera), Joseph De Rocher in his third production of Dead Man Walking (Welsh National Opera), Mozart Requiem (Seattle Symphony), and Richard in the workshop of Kevin Puts’ The Hours (Cincinnati Opera).

Upcoming appearances include a reprise of Richard in The Hours with the Metropolitan Opera (workshop), as well as Scarpia in Tosca (Livermore Opera).
