John Zappa teaches the jazz trumpet studio at the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati and is on the faculty at Northern Kentucky University, where he teaches trumpet, jazz theory, arranging, jazz history, composition, improvisation and jazz appreciation in addition to coaching several ensembles. John has spent 23 years leading various bands, and has recorded his own music on albums, exploring world beat rhythms and jazz, with legendary Cuban drummer, Ignacio Berroa. John has performed throughout the United States, Asia and Europe. His studio work can be heard on numerous T.V. commercials, album and film projects, including “We Want the Funk” by Bootsy Collins for the movie “Undercover Brother.” John has played for many headliners including Don Rickles, Eddie Money, Wayne Newton, Leslie Gore, The Temptations, The O’Jay’s and Frankie Vallie, and in addition to jazz concerts with Joe Henderson, Clark Terry, Jimmy Heath, Lew Soloff, Terell Stafford and Jeff Coffin.
