SCOTT ALTMAN
Executive Director

Scott Altman is Executive Director of Miami City Ballet and brings more than 25 years of executive nonprofit arts management experience, with a proven record in strategic planning, institutional growth, fundraising, audience development, and team building.

Prior to joining Miami City Ballet, Scott served as President & CEO of Los Angeles Master Chorale, where he expanded the organization’s international profile through touring and strengthened its community and education initiatives. During his tenure, the ensemble reached major artistic milestones, including performances at the 97th and 98th Academy Awards and Grammy Awardwinning collaborations with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel.

Previously, Scott was President & CEO of Cincinnati Ballet. Under his leadership, the organization more than tripled its assets to over $75 million, achieved 67% operational growth and record-breaking ticket sales, expanded Academy and community programs, and completed a $31 million capital campaign resulting in the Cincinnati Ballet Margaret and Michael Valentine Center for Dance.

Scott has also held leadership positions at Arizona Opera, Opera New Jersey, which he co-founded, and Ballet West. Before entering arts administration, he enjoyed a 20-year career as a professional opera singer, performing 40 roles internationally. He is an alumnus of the Manhattan School of Music and SUNY Purchase, taught voice for three years at Princeton University, and completed Stanford University’s Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders.
