Twin Sister Docs Foundation, Inc., was created to directly impact our communities’ health and wellness. Twin
Sister Docs consists of Dr. Elana McDonald and Dr. Delana Wardlaw. Elana McDonald, MD, FAAP, is a board-certified general
pediatrician, and Delana Wardlaw, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician. They are natives of the Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia and are graduates of Central High School’s 251st class. Both graduated Magna Cum Laude from Temple University and went on to receive their Doctorates of Medicine from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. Dr. McDonald completed her residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, and Dr. Wardlaw completed her residency at the former Montgomery Hospital in Norristown, where she served as chief resident. They have over 40 years of experience providing quality health care to underserved communities.
Their mission is based on 3 Ts: Trust, Translate, and Transform. Trusted messengers provide accurate information, translating into people becoming active participants in their healthcare, leading to transformative outcomes.
The Twin Sister Docs Foundation allows Dr. McDonald and Dr. Wardlaw to extend their commitment to addressing healthcare disparities from their offices to surrounding communities, and various regional and national platforms. African Americans carry the burden of many diseases, including but not limited to higher rates of breast, colon, and cervical cancer, hypertension, Diabetes, HIV, maternal morbidity and mortality, and infant mortality. COVID-19 created another healthcare disparity as African
Americans are disproportionately affected due to higher rates of chronic illness, lack of access to care, and other social determinants of health. With the impact of COVID-19, they redirected their efforts to provide educational resources and organize COVID-19 vaccination clinics to increase awareness and access.
