Johana Kim is currently a freshman at Homestead High School and a talented flutist who has been playing since the 4th grade under the guidance of her private teacher, Sanda Masic. 

Her dedication and talent has earned her numerous accolades, including: 2023 Wisconsin Flute Festival Junior Artist Competition (winner), 2023-24 UW-Milwaukee Youth Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition (winner); 2024 Chicago Flute Club Annual Student Competition (First Prize), MYSO’s Philharmonia Concerto Competition (honorable mention); and the 2025 Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Stars of Tomorrow Competition (honorable mention). Most recently, she has been named the winner of the 2025 Lakeshore Symphonic Band Young Artist Competition.

Johana has been a member of the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) since the 3rd grade, beginning as a violinist and now performing flute in the Senior Symphony. As a violinist, she participates in orchestra and serves as co-concertmaster in her school's string orchestra

Johana also enjoying piano in her free time. Beyond performing, Johana channels her creativity into participating in forensics, service clubs, and reflecting her passion for the arts.
