Sal Stein
Violin | 2025 Senior Symphony Concerto Competition Honorable Mention

Violinist, composer, and pianist Salvador (Sal) Stein, is a talented young musician currently attending Homestead High School in Mequon, where he will graduate in 2027. His musical journey began as a young child while living in Singapore where his musical education included participation in the Trinity College of London Program as well as the Suzuki Program at Stamford American School from 2015 to 2018. Sal has studied with distinguished private teachers including Pamela Simmons (current), Christian Tremblay, Albert Shagimardanov, and Yi Li Siew. He has also participated in masterclasses with esteemed artists such as Frank Almond and the Pacifica Quartet.

Sal has earned numerous musical accolades. In 2024 and 2025, he was a semi-finalist in the prestigious Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Stars Of Tomorrow competition and received an Exemplary Performance distinction in the WSMA Solo and Ensemble Festival. Sal was also a runner-up in MYSO's Metropolitan Symphony's Concerto Competition in 2023 and an honorable Mention in the 2024 and 2025 Senior Symphony competitions. 

Sal has showcased his talent for composition through MYSO's John Downey Creation Project, contributing original scores in both 2022 and 2023.

Sal’s performance experience includes concerts in renowned venues such as Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerpen, Belgium; the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Netherlands; the Musis Sacrum in Arnhem, Netherlands; and the Bradley Symphony Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Sal's commitment to growth has led him to participate in various summer programs, including Mimi Zwieg’s Indiana Summer Strings Academy in 2024 where he studied with Dr. Ching-Yi Lin and the Erinys Quartet from Curtis. While in Indiana he also took lessons with William Harvey. In 2024 Sal also attended the Peabody Conservatory Chamber Week with Christian Tremblay. In addition, he has been part of the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra Summer Chamber Music Conference, working with Frank Almond in 2022 and 2024.

In addition to solo and summer program pursuits, Sal has been an active member of MYSO since 2018 and currently serves as a Senior Symphony concertmaster. He is also involved in the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music's Advanced Chamber Program. 

Sal studies piano with Stefanie Jacob and has performed in recitals at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, both on piano and as a part of the Advanced Chamber Music Program. With a blend of exceptional performance skills, a passion for music composition, and a dedication to learning from renowned instructors, Sal continues to develop a promising career in music.
