Alexander Matusiak is a senior at Greenfield High School. He found his passion for music at a young age and decided to pursue the art form later in his life. He came to love the composition side of music, learning the ins and outs from music greats like that of Hanz Zimmer and Felix Mendelssohn.
Alex plans to pursue a career in composing, following in the footsteps of many great musicians before him. He is inspired by ideas of thought, logic, and passion, often combining ideas to compose pieces.
He would like to thank his mother and father for influencing his musical talents and he would like to thank those who have taught him what music truly is.

Reflection: The Thought of Hope
In the years since the growth of the Scientific Method, many great minds have shifted the nature of our thought. Many people, including myself, thought that these great minds needed to be special to reshape our understanding of the world. This is not true, however. When one can sit in silence, just for a moment or two, marvelous things occur. The mind opens like a flower in spring, able to breathe by being away from daily the struggle and commotion. This is where the magic happens. When one has time to reflect and think, one can achieve great things.
My piece represents the possible stages one might go through when reflecting on an idea, following the many struggles or epiphanies that occur during thought. Knowing this, I implore you, close your eyes, and reflect. You may find more than what you are looking for.
