Bassoonist Faith Weigand is a high school senior from Racine. She has been playing bassoon for three years and studies with Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra bassoonist and contra bassoonist Beth Giacobassi.
Faith plays bassoon and contrabassoon in the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra’s Senior Symphony and bassoon in the Bach Ensemble, and she has been a member of both for two years. In addition, she was principal bassoon of the 2024 WSMA State Honors Orchestra.
Faith is a freelance musicians and has played in various orchestras, including the Milwaukee Community Orchestra, the Kettle Moraine Symphony Orchestra, the Concord Chamber Orchestra, and the Racine Symphony Orchestra.
In 2024, she placed second in the Racine Symphony Young Artists’ Competition and was also a recipient of the UW-Madison Tuition Waiver Award. She was selected to play in the Civic Music MKE High School Competition Showcase Recital in both 2024 and 2025. She earned an Honorable Mention in 2024 for the MSO Stars of Tomorrow Competition, and was a semifinalist in 2025. She also won the Waukesha Area Symphonic Band Concerto Competition playing the Mozart Bassoon Concerto and the Racine Symphony’s Young Artists’ Competition with the Hummel Bassoon Concerto.
Outside of music, Faith enjoys baking bread, wandering around in the woods, and coding.
