Composer Jack Rivera is an eighth grader at Longfellow Middle School in Wauwatosa. Jack has studied violin for three years with Katherine Ennis, as well as piano with Jill Eldredge. He currently plays in the first violin section of Sinfonia. Beyond creating classical pieces, Jack also enjoys creating digital music, as he is a self-taught producer and sound designer. Inspired by Baroque-era composers such as Vivaldi and Bach, he likes to create moody, unpredictable music with frequent changes, as illustrated in his piece The Distortion. He is very grateful for the John Downey Creation Project and MYSO for providing a platform for young composers to innovate, and plans to continue his creative career in the future. In addition to his violin and piano teachers, Jack would like to thank Dr. Christian Ellenwood and Lauren Roznowski-Hayden for their continued support and guidance in music at school and in MYSO.
