Mark "Sal" Stein
Fellow, John Downey Creation Project

Mark "Sal" Stein is an eighth grader currently attending Lake Shore Middle School. Sal picked up a violin at age 4 and hasn't put it down since!

Sal began studying and taking lessons in Singapore under the Trinity College of London program where he  received high marks with distinction. Since 2018, he has played in several MYSO orchestras and ensembles. In addition to violin, Sal loves to compose and play the piano.

Sal would like to thank MYSO for this great experience and a special thank you to his violin teacher, Pamela Simmons, for her tutelage and support.

He would also like to thank Dr. Christian Ellenwood for his mentorship through this process.

Last, but certainly not least, Sal would like to thank his mom who has helped him from the beginning, and not only been honest but enthusiastic and encouraging while Fantasie Symphony No. 2 evolved.

Sal is excited for his piece to be played at such an amazing venue as the Bradley Symphony Center and hopes you enjoy the concert!
