Richie Nickel has been a musician his entire life. He started piano lessons at age five and violin lessons at age nine. He currently performs with MYSO’s Senior Symphony and the Wauwatosa East High School Orchestra, along with numerous small ensembles. He also has performed with the WSMA middle level and high school State Honors Orchestras. He currently studies violin with Mrs. Celestine Fitzgerald, and jazz piano with Mr. Devin Drobka. He has performed for WSMA Solo and Ensemble, as well as other music competitions. Richie is involved in music outside the classical realm as well. He is the Sound Head for his school’s theater, leading the sound design for shows and working with the school’s music department to record and stream various concerts, shows, and other events.
Richie is grateful for the support and guidance of his music teachers and parents, as well as the John Downey Creation Project for this incredible opportunity. Finally, he would like to thank Dr. Christian Ellenwood and Mr. Dan Duffy for their guidance and support throughout this process. Richie hopes you enjoy his piece!
