Colette Wiering (6th grade) is in her second year with MYSO, and she very much enjoys playing music with others, especially in chamber ensembles and also at home. She is a student of Matous Michal of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, who introduced her to Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1. This year Colette was named a winner in the Milwaukee Symphony’s Orchera's Bach Double Violin Competition, and she earned an honorable mention in the DePaul University Concerto Festival.
Two Rivers, Wisconsin, where Colette calls home, is a bit far away, but Colette makes use of her time watching biology videos in the car. In her spare time she enjoys reading and often finds herself buried in piles of books. “I like books a lot. Books give me something to think about.”
Colette would like to thank Music Director Dan Duffy for rehearsing the Bruch Concerto and making it possible to play with a full orchestra.
