Sonya Wilhelm
Viola

Violist Sonya Wilhelm is a senior at the Kettle Moraine School for Arts and Performance. This is her third year in Senior Symphony, where she serves as principal violist. Additionally, Sonya has been a member of the Chamber Orchestra and MYSO's 2023 tour to Belgium and The Netherlands. Sonya is a three-time Janet Ruggeri Memorial Viola Scholarship winner, a Wisconsin Philharmonic Shining Stars competition winner in 2023, and most recently, a semi-finalist in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Stars of Tomorrow competition.

Sonya is passionate about both classical and contemporary/pop styles, with notable performances including a quartet performance for a UPAF event at the Skylight Theatre, and playing in the string section for R&B artist Grace Weber’s “Paperflower" Tour at the Pabst Theatre concert last November. In her free time, Sonya enjoys singing in her school’s a capella choir, writing songs and doing covers, and is both a vocalist and violist in the worship band at her church.

She is very excited for what is to come in the future, and is looking forward to pursuing both music and Spanish in college this fall.

Sonya would love to thank her family, friends, and teachers for all of their support, and her friends and instructors at MYSO for an incredible five years of music! See her perform next at the MSO Stars of Tomorrow Concert as an orchestra member, and at Madison’s restaurant in Madison on March 29th for a night of acoustic covers.
