Marissa Eden Talwa
mezzo-soprano

Born and raised on a reservation in Southwest Louisiana, Marissa loves having grown up around popular Louisiana Cajun culture. But, even more enriching are the cultural ties she still holds to her sovereign indigenous tribe, the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana. As a former tribal princess, Marissa regularly visits and supports tribal pow wows here in Alabama.

Since discovering her voice at age five, music and singing became a large part of her everyday life, and she’s worked persistently to find, develop and grow into her voice and style. Having graduated with a Bachelor of Music from The Masters University of Santa Clarita, CA, Marissa loves that her education has helped her grow continuously as a musician and performer.

Taking advantage of every opportunity to be challenged is part of Marissa’s driving personality and zest for life. She performs with Opera Birmingham, and she is a seasonal hair model/dancer for Kirkpro essentials. She also enjoys her artistic passions as a dance fitness and weight lifting instructor at local gyms and clubs. Marissa embodies this thinking: we are not here for long, and life is meant to be lived.
