Brian Denton is a tenor from Birmingham, Alabama. He holds a BA in Music Education and Vocal Performance from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a where he studied opera and voice with Dr. Kristine Hurst-Wajszczuk and performed domestically and internationally with the UAB Concert Choir & Chamber Singers under Dr. Philip Copeland. Brian had his first opera debut with Opera Birmingham in the 2008 production of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. Since then, Brian has performed chorus and supporting roles in numerous productions with Opera Birmingham, including Lucia di Lammermoor, Faust, Carmen, Hamlet, Rigoletto, The Magic FluteThe Magic Flute, La Bohème, & La Traviata. Additionally, Brian has performed on Opera Birmingham’s Sounds of the Seasons concert annually since 2016, Chorus for The Eagles’ 2022 Hotel California Tour, and several Opera Shots performances. Other notable performances include as a soloist on Bloch’s Sacred Service at Carnegie Hall, with Dr. Lester Seigel conducting; Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Justin Brown conducting & Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins, Carlos Izcaray conducting, with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
