Lowri Marie is a captivating and versatile singer whose soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics have touched the hearts of music lovers in the United States and Italy. Born in Texarkana, Arkansas, Lowri Marie discovered her passion for music at a young age and has dedicated her voice to enriching the lives of others.

From the age of five, Lowri Marie exhibited an extraordinary talent for singing. Her journey began with elementary school operettas and church choir performances. Having been introduced to bel canto by her eleventh-grade high choral director, she became one of the first African American females to sing in the Arkansas All-State Choir. As Lowri Marie continued to hone her craft, it became evident that she was a contributor to the world of music.

With influences ranging from Marian Anderson, Leontyne Price, Ella Fitzgerald to B. B. King, Lowri Marie developed a unique and heartfelt style that defies easy categorization. Her music seamlessly blends elements of bel canto, jazz and blues, creating a sound that is both earthy and sophisticated. She has a varied repertoire that showcases versatility and skill which includes Mozart, Handel, Bach, Verdi, Puccini, songs from Broadway musicals and The Negro Spirituals.

Lowri Marie was a featured soloist with the renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers. Her opera and theater roles include a novice in Suor Angelica by Puccini, the mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors by Menotti, Mrs. Eggers, in the premiere of Denim King: The Moses Cone Story by Janet Speer and Bird Woman, in the musical production of the film, Mary Poppins, and performed with the Lees-McRae Summer Theatre.

Lowri Marie holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Beyond her musical talents, she is known for her voluntary and philanthropic efforts, such as causes for the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, the city of Tuskegee, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church, Tuskegee University Chapel Ministry and St. Joseph Catholic Church and School.

Lowri Marie is grateful for the opportunity to perform with Opera Birmingham. With much appreciation, she acknowledges the unwavering support of her family and friends and dedicates her performances to the loving memory of her parents, Agnes Marie and Lowry Pierce Howard.
