Praised by San Francisco Classical Voice for creating a "focused and unified" sound with the Oakland Symphony Chorus, Zach Salsburg-Frank was recently named Chorus Director and Assistant Conductor of the Oakland Symphony. His work spans opera, orchestral, and choral music, with experience in both the United States and Europe.

With the Oakland Symphony Chorus, Zach has prepared the ensemble for R. Nathaniel Dett's The Ordering of Moses and Reena Esmail's She Will Transform You, among other repertoire. He has assisted on productions with the Canadian Opera Company (La bohème), Seattle Opera (Tristan und Isolde), Opéra de Toulon (Don Giovanni), Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera (La bohème), Arizona Opera (Die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni), Opera Saratoga (Così fan tutte), and Festival Napa Valley (Don Pasquale). He has also served as Assistant to the General Music Director at Theater Dortmund in Germany. On the podium, Zach made his Oakland Symphony debut conducting the orchestra's July 4th concert in the 2025-26 season, and has conducted Carmen, La traviata, and Il barbiere di Siviglia with Chandler Opera Company, led the U.S. premiere of Tawnie Olson's Sanctuary and Storm, and previously served as a cover conductor with the Oakland Symphony and Berkeley Symphony.

Zach is the Production Manager for Festival Napa Valley, where he previously served as Assistant Director of Academy Programs, and was formerly the Artist Services & Programs Manager for the Merola Opera Program. He also returned to his musical roots as Interim Music Director of the Pacific Boychoir Academy, the institution where he first trained as a chorister.

Zach holds a Master of Music in Conducting from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Music in Voice from McGill University. He has studied with and assisted conductors Jordan de Souza, Daniela Candillari, Jim Lowe, Ryan McAdams, Kedrick Armstrong, and Joseph Young.
