John Kendall Bailey is currently Music Director of the Mozart to Mendelssohn Orchestra and the Mesopotamia Symphony Orchestra, and Associate Conductor of the San Francisco Composers Chamber Orchestra. Previously he has held positions including Principal Conductor of Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra, Music Director and Conductor of Trinity Lyric Opera, and Guest Conductor with Oakland Symphony, Oakland Ballet, Palo Alto Philharmonic, Folsom Lake Symphony, Sonoma County Philharmonic, Diablo Symphony Orchestra, Magik*Magik Orchestra, San Francisco Civic Symphony, San Francisco Concerto Orchestra, Santa Rosa Junior College, and has conducted productions for Festival Opera of Walnut Creek, West Bay Opera, North Bay Opera, Pocket Opera, Mission City Opera, Cinnabar Theater, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the Crowden School, and Oakland School for the Arts. He has also served as Choral Director with Voices of Musica Sacra, Festival Opera of Walnut Creek and Opera San José; as Guest Conductor for the UC Berkeley Chamber Chorus, the UC Davis Choruses, Contra Costa Chorale, and as a cover/rehearsal conductor for orchestras including Berkeley Symphony, Modesto Symphony, and Young People’s Symphony Orchestra. Bailey has taught conducting at UC Davis and at Notre Dame de Namur University, and is also in frequent demand as a lecturer, baritone, and pianist.
