Alex Kolyszko
Chorus and Don Alfonso Understudy

Chicago based Polish-American bass-baritone Alex recently performed Grandpa Moss in Copland’s The Tender Land, with Chicago Summer Opera 2022, as well as Le Roi in Massenet’s Cendrillon. Alex is excited to work with Vizin Productions on The Story of Carmen (Bizet) as Morales, as well as Music On Site’s production of Carmen (Bizet) as Zuniga, December 2022. Performing in the chorus for Chicago Opera Theater’s production of King Roger (Szymanowski) in November 2022 was exceptionally thrilling for him. In 2021, he studied the role of Bartolo in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, and in 2020 performed Le Baron de Pictordu in Viardot’s Cendrillon (Chicago College of Performing Arts – Roosevelt University). Previous Roles include He, Grimbald, and Frost Genius in Purcell’s King Arthur (CCPA, cover); Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan tutte (CCPA, reading); and The Bonze and the Imperial Commissioner in Puccini's Madama Butterfly (Opera Reading Project). Alex studies under Mark Crayton and is honored to be a Smith Young Artist with Cedar Rapids Opera for this year’s production of Così fan tutte.
