Recognized as a “gorgeous-voiced” mezzo-soprano (Broadway World), Hailey McAvoy’s operatic roles include the page of Herodias (Salome, Fisher Center for Performing Arts); The Taller Daughter (Mazzoli's Proving Up, Aspen Music Festival); Zosha (Heggie’s Out of Darkness, Eastman Opera Theater); and Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro, Aquilon Music Festival).
Equally active as a concert performer, McAvoy’s concert highlights include Ravel’s Shéhérazade and Berlioz’s Les nuits d’été. In March, she appeared in recital with pianist Bethany Pietroniro at Downtown Music at Grace in White Plains, NY.
As a performer with Cerebral Palsy, McAvoy amplifies the discussion around disability in the arts. She recently interviewed with AGMA Magazine and served as a panelist for Opera NexGen’s Accessibility in Opera. A forthcoming essay exploring disability will be published through Our Singing Bodies in 2022. To learn more about McAvoy’s journey of singing with Cerebral Palsy, visit www.haileymcavoy.com/about
