Elizabeth Welch
Julie Jordan

Elizabeth Welch is an actor and singer whose career spans opera, concert, and musical theatre. Most notably for her portrayal of Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, she was honored to be a member of the closing company of Broadway’s longest-running musical.

In addition to her time on Broadway, Elizabeth played Christine Daaé in the German production (Das Phantom der Oper), performing the role in German. Trained as a classical soprano and beginning her opera career in Germany, this was a full circle moment and a treasured chapter of her career.

As a concert and cabaret artist, Elizabeth co-wrote and starred in her solo show, Mother Knows Best, along with other concerts and tours with Stolle House Productions’ Unreachable Stars and No More Talk of Darkness

Trained as a classical soprano, Elizabeth’s early work included opera roles such as Susanna in Figaro’s Hochzeit, Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore, Despina in Così fan tutte, and Olympia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann. Transitioning into musical theatre, her work includes Cosette (Les Misérables), Maria (West Side Story – Denver Post Ovation Award), Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Anna (The King and I), and her childhood dream role, Marian the Librarian in The Music Man.

Beyond the stage, Elizabeth is a founding member and board member of Broadway Hearts (broadwayhearts.org), an organization dedicated to bringing the magic of Broadway - its music, performers, and sense of joy - to children undergoing treatment in hospitals nationwide.
