Nicholas Jules Hewitt [Technical director/Scenic Designer] returns for another scenic design for Opera Idaho. Locally he has designed for The Royale at the Alley Repertory Theatre, The River Bride with Boise State University, and last season with Opera Idaho for Carmen and Dead Man Walking. Nicholas has also been a scenic painter with the Idaho Shakespeare Festival and is working on several other design projects in the Boise and Idaho area. He moved here from Southern Oregon where he worked as a scenic designer and technical director for such productions as The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Little Women, Pippin, and Dancing at Lughnasa, to name a few. 

Graduate from the University of Oregon in 2015 with a degree in theatre focused on scenic and technical production, Nicholas has won awards for his work with the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and has spent the better part of the last 10 years he was in Southern Oregon as the lead scenic painter for The Oregon Cabaret Theatre. Now a full-time Idahoan, he cannot wait to see what’s next as he expands further his local design work and continues to create art.
