Colorado composer Susan H. Day has tried to paint a picture of Colorado history in this work. The piece begins with a rhythmic Native American theme, followed by a western cowboy theme. During the railroad theme, the strings create the sounds of a chugging steam engine and roaring train whistle. We finish with a majestic scene of the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
