MacKenzie Greenwell is a leader in the Canadian tap scene. Originally from Cochrane, Alberta, he has spent the last 15 years travelling all over the world performing, teaching, and choreographing. A dedicated mentor, MacKenzie has worked with and continues to foster many of Canada’s up-and-coming tap dancers. As a performer, he is a former touring cast member of the internationally acclaimed show Tap Dogs, was a principal dancer in the Rhythm & Sound Tap Company in Toronto, and was also a choreographer for the Canadian National Team in 2018.
MacKenzie now lives in Nova Scotia, where he is an active member of the jazz music scene. He is a member of the Toronto/Halifax-based band Game.Set.Trap., and he joined up with Halifax-based dance company Votive Dance for their original show Whoddunit, debuting in 2022 and touring in 2024. In 2023, he co-founded Rhythmm to establish a foundation for percussive dance to grow and thrive on the East Coast. His latest project, Triptych, is a collaborative playground of improvisation with fellow artists Michele King and Meghan Gilhespy, and explores all the possibilities connecting tap dance, movement, and soundscapes.
